Moss

Yesterday at Goldstream, besides the salmon, I noticed that there was a lot of moss growing everywhere. Not surprising considering the amount of rain that we recieve.

While crouching down under a tree to shoot some ferns, I looked up and noticed the moss growing on the branches of this tree. With the sun poking through, I thought that it was cool looking (even if it was at the start of the day and I wound up covered in water and mud).

I think that this is lichen-as opposed to moss-growing on a tree branch.
Some moss growing on a tree stump (I liked shooting this one-it was nearer to the parking lot=not so much mud!).
I really liked the look of this tree. The gnarled base of it and the upside-down 'U' from another tree poking through it. That it bark looks black and shiny and the fuzzy texture of the moss growing on it. So... you get to see it twice! Once in sepia and once in colour. I just couldn't decide which I liked better.

The first one is really interesting! I don't think I've ever seen moss on the branches before.

I think it was worth getting muddy for those pics (tee hee....I didn't have to do it!); I'd love to see the one with the lichens in colour!
Very nice!
