Graveyard

Well for pumpkins anyways.

For the last few years after Hallowe'en, people have started leaving their pumpkins on the side of the road that goes through Mt. Doug Park. To me it looks like a pumpkin graveyard.
Today I would guess, and I am not good at guess-timating, that there were at least 150 deserted pumpkins lining the logs and fences along the side of the road. These are a few of my favourite images.

This is the one that tried to make a run for it and only made it to the leaves and ferns.

Mt. Tolmie

Well on my second trip out today-forgot my batteries the first time around- I stayed closer to home and just went up Mt. Tolmie. Basically, go to our parking lot and look up and that's where I was. I did try to expand beyond the horizon to find something different for you to look at today.

I found a rusty manhole cover that was locked secure. The colour of the rust and the rocks and the strands of grass poking aroung the edges caught my eye.

These were growing sideways out of the rocks.

It rained last night and there was puddles on top of the resevoir and the sun and the treetops were reflecting in them.

There was an anonymous cyclist overlooking the view towards Cadboro Bay-didn't see the Cadborosaurus (our local sea monster) today. It was so bright out today, plus the blues of the sky and the water, I probably could have used a filter on this one but I didn't. Hopefully the cyclist doesn't mind getting posted...

This is an "oops" shot that I kind of like. I had the big lens on with the wide angle lens, zoomed out all the way, and I went to take a horizon shot, not realizing that I was still set on macro. The edges came out all blurry and squished in but I think it looks rather unique and I like how it came out.

OK, one shot to really show off how beautiful it was today. I believe that those are the Sooke Hills in the background with our blue sky and puffy white clouds (like the bubble bath that I used to get at 'Lush')

Waterfront Walk

Uhmmm... so it looks like I have to learn the right order for putting the photos in here because I have managed to do it backwards! Oops!!! honestly I did mean for the sunset to go at the end of todays entry and not at the beginning. Well Chris always says that I have to do things a bit strangely...

So we were walking along the walkway along the waterfront in Sidney late this afternoon. At the end of our walk, we caught this sunset...

We both smiled when we saw this pumpkin pot in someones yard.
And I couldn't believe it when I saw blackberries when we were out! Five days before Hallowe'en and we still have blackberries out. The leaves look a bit questionable but there was still fruit out.
